1. Cut chain into 5 lengths of at least 2 cm, 1 length at 1.5cms and 1 length at 1cm.* Make sure each length is of an unequal number of links. Using one fine eye pin thread a butterfly bead and a gold spacer. Thread 6mm Swarovski crystal bicone in colour A onto one fine eye pin. Thread remaining beads onto fine head pins. Make sure to use 2mm gold spacer for under Swarovski crystal butterfly.

2. Trim wire and turn loop at top of butterfly. Repeat for 6mm Swarovski crystal dangle. Make sure the loops face the same direction, as in photo two. Close remaining beads with wrapped loops.

3. Open one jump ring. Thread one length of chain from the centre link and the earring hook. Close jump ring.

4. Open one jump ring. Thread one hanging end of chain attached to earring hook, and 6mm Swarovski crystal loop. Close jump ring. Open another jump ring and attach other hanging end of chain and other loop.

5. Open one jump ring. Thread one length of chain from the centre link and top loop of butterfly dangle. Close jump ring.

6. Open one jump ring. Thread one length of chain from end and one 4mm dangle in colour A. Close jump ring. Repeat for other end of chain with 4mm dangle in colour B. Repeat for another equal length of chain. Attach remaining lengths of chain; longer one for the butterfly crystal, next shorter for the 6mm crystal dangle, and shortest for the 4mm dangle in colour A, to the last three dangles using jump rings.

7. Open one jump ring. Thread chain ends of three consecutively shorter chain lengths. Attach to bottom loop of butterfly dangle. Close jump ring.

8. Open jump ring. Thread chain with dangles on either end from centre link, or unevenly, if desired.

Thread hanging chain end that is attached to butterfly top loop and finally the beaded loop with the 6mm Swarovski crystal in colour A. Close jump ring. Repeat to attach remaining chain dangles and close earring to other side of beaded loop.

Be careful not to twist the beaded loop in the centre. This completes one earring

9. Repeat for second earring. See photo ten.
*Photos show earrings made with chain at this length, but were trimmed later to suit personal taste, as seen in finished photo.
