European 4-in-1 is the most recognisable chain maille pattern. In the middle ages, large sheets of it were made to cover the head, neck and torso of knights in battle. The pattern is built in simple sets of rings. the repeating pattern produces a delicate overlapping design.
Originally designed to be used as armour, chain maille was developed more than 2000 years ago. it was Shakespeare who made chain maille popular for personal adornment; it was worn as jewellery by the actors in his plays.
Once you have mastered the technique from this kit, experiment using different coloured jump rings or move onto Precious Metal!
