Hardened Tool Steel - Preservation and Care
Your Stamps may arrive to you already coated in Oil, this is for their protection during storage, to start using your tools, simply wipe excess oil off with a dry paper towel.
Hardened Tool Steel is the strongest and longest lasting material but it is susceptible to rust and for it to already have some rust when it comes from the manufacturer is normal. This does not affect the Use or Purpose of the tools. These tools can last a lifetime with the correct use and care. If you are not going to use the tools for some time, care should be taken to store them properly.
• When you're not using your steel stamps, to prevent rusting, we recommend that you store your stamps in a dry, airtight container.
• Oiling your steel stamps before you store them will also protect them from rusting. Sewing Machine Oil will do.
• If you live in humid climate and find that your steel stamps have some rust on them, you can use a dry Scotch Bright scouring pad (a dish-washing pad) to remove the rust.
• A Steel Sandpaper sheet can also be used. Make sure to avoid scouring or sanding the face of your stamp so it doesn't get scratched or rough.
• When you're done removing the rust off the shaft of your stamp(s), wipe off with a dry paper towel or clean cloth and oil them promptly thereafter.
