Garnet

It seems most Garnets are dyed these days, so always wash your stones before stringing. There is a tradition of dying stones in India and since most red Garnet comes from India, it is dyed Garnet, even when the quality of the stone is nice.  Garnet is usually a burgundy red, and comes in various shades from transparent to translucent red, pink, orange-red, orange, purple, olive green and very rarely, emerald green. Beautiful, rich and timeless, keep in mind that true Garnet is quite heavy.
